We will have mechanics on site to wash and maintain bikes as required.

Are electric / e-Bikes allowed?

They are allowed and even encouraged in the spirit of making the ride as accessible as possible to riders of all levels. We can transport spare batteries for riders if required.

The Ride

What sort of riding should I expect?

add remove

The Mawson Trail features a mixture of off-road trails, farm roads and quiet country roads. The terrain can be challenging and hilly in parts, which may challenge some riders more than others depending on your level of fitness. At least a moderate level of cycling fitness is required, and we expect to have riders of varying levels participate.

Grave, MTB and electric / e-Bikes can be used, however standard road bikes cannot. If you have any questions or doubts about your fitness or suitability for the event, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us so that we can advise you.

What's the weather like in October?

add remove

October is one of the best months to ride the Mawson Trail, with generally mild temperatures, and fewer extremes, but riders should pack layers to handle cool mornings, potential rain, muddy conditions, and windy sections. Daytime highs generally sit around 20 - 25°C, while the nights can be cooler, dropping to around 7–12°C. Wet weather gear and sun protection are recommended.

Do I need to bring my own bike?
